Million Word Clubs

At BCPS in the elementary school we use the supplemental reading program, Accelerated Reader. The Accelerated Reader program is a computerized program that tests reading comprehension. Students select books on their reading level, read independently, and take an independent comprehension test on the computer. Each book is worth a certain number of points based on its length and reading level. This year as in the past, we are celebrating students’ success in achieving milestones in this program. Students whom have read enough books(words) become member of the Million Word Club, Two Million Word Club, Three Million Word Club, etc.…

This has been an exciting year because more students than ever have qualified. We have had, for the first time; third graders read enough words to qualify for the One Million Word Club. And just today we have our first member into the Three Million Word Club, welcome trend setter, Isaac Rudloff.

Students have about fifteen more days to qualify for one of these groups because next year we all start over!
