Reflection

Happy Friday Everyone!

Reflection is one of the best ways to determine learning and growth.  It can be done in a variety of ways - writing/journaling, conversation, video, or drawing.  Whichever way we choose to reflect is not nearly as important as why we reflect.  The "why" is to make personal meaning out of an experience.  In order to do this, we must commit to being fully present during the experience.  When we are fully present in an experience we will be able to identify certain parts of the experience that make an impact on our beliefs or behaviors.  We fully engage in our experience, identify significant parts, and then explain (in our own preferred way) the personal learning that resulted from the experience.  The best part about reflecting - there is no right or wrong answer.  How can you be wrong if you are deciding how an experience made an impact you?   There are no grades when it comes to reflections, but there may be extended conversations, questions, and even challenges as a result.  These extended conversations, questions, and challenges create more experiences which will result in more learning.  It is not about having the right or wrong answer.  It is about being fully present in every experience and harvesting personal learning and growth from them.  Some experiences are intentionally created while others happen without planning.  The key is to be fully present in both and reflect regularly.

Happy Friday!!
