Matt Blomstedt, Commissioner of Education for the state of Nebraska, stated in his news release that ALL schools in Nebraska will close on Friday, March 20, 2020 unless recommended to close sooner.  As you all know, the ELVPHD recommended ALL ESU 8 schools close for 14 calendar days.  In light of this news from the Commissioner, Battle Creek Public Schools will be closed until April 6, 2020.  This Commissioner also stated that schools should be prepared to be closed for six to eight weeks but would be reviewing operations every two weeks, including plans for re-opening.  The Nebraska Department of Education also advises school districts to continue student learning using available resources.  Battle Creek Public School teachers will be returning to work tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18, 2020 to organize enrichment and review lessons & activities for our students.  These enrichment and review lessons & activities will be available to students on Monday, March 23, 2020.  More specific information on these lessons will come from individual teachers to parents and students by the end of this week.  I realize this puts a tremendous amount of stress on our parents, students, teachers, and community.  The teachers of Battle Creek Public Schools will do everything we can to engage students in learning by utilizing the tools and resources we currently have.

If you have questions, please feel free to call.
