Gavin Lee Tegeler, son of Chad and Valissa Tegeler, attended pre-kindergarten through fifth grade at St. John Lutheran School before transferring to Battle Creek in the sixth grade. He is a member at St. John Lutheran Church.
Gavin participated in golf during all four years of high school and played football and basketball for two seasons. He is a four year letter winner in golf and was a member of the state runner-up squad last season. He placed fifteenth individually at the Nebraska State Golf Meet held last spring.
Besides athletics, Gavin has served as a Trailblazer for two years.
For his efforts in the classroom, Gavin was on the honor roll and was also selected as Student of the Month by his teachers.
Gavin listed Mr. Tucker Tejkl as his favorite instructor at BCHS, stating, “He always made learning fun.” When asked to name a favorite memory from his time in high school, Gavin stated that finishing second at state golf last year will always be at the top of his list. He mentioned that it was so fun having all their hard work pay off.
Outside of school, Gavin enjoys playing golf and spending time with friends and family. He has worked at Taylor Creek Golf Course for one year and at Fairplay Golf Course for one year, both as a groundskeeper.
After graduation, Gavin plans to attend Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. He plans to major in physical education. He will be a member of the golf squad.
