Dylan Marshall Mettler

Dylan Marshall Mettler, son of Heath and Christine Mettler, attended preschool at Christ Lutheran and kindergarten at Warnerville before coming to the Battle Creek Public Schools in first grade. He is an active member of First United Methodist Church of Norfolk. 

Dylan participated in football, basketball, and track during all four years of high school. In football, he served as a team captain this past fall. For his efforts on the gridiron, Dylan was a four time letter winner, was selected to the All District Team following his junior and senior seasons, and was an All District honorable mention honoree as a sophomore. In addition, he was a two time All State honorable mention honoree and was named this past fall to the NCPA Academic All State list for football. As a member of the Braves basketball squad, Dylan lettered during all four years and was named to the NCPA Academic All State list following both his junior and senior seasons. For his efforts in track and field, Dylan is a three time letter winner going into his senior season. As a freshman, Dylan was selected as Newcomer of the Year at the athletic banquet, an award given to the most promising freshman athlete.

Aside from athletics, Dylan served as the sophomore and senior class treasurer, has been a member of the National Honor Society as a senior, and has served as a Trailblazer during both his junior and senior years. 

Outside of school, Dylan enjoys hanging out with family and friends. He also enjoys playing and watching sports. He holds a position at Rexius Nutrition, a job he has held since 2019, and he has worked for Team Elite Detasseling for five years.  

When asked to name his favorite teacher, Dylan mentioned Mr. Ryan Heller, stating, “He challenges us and makes us use different methods to solve problems.” Dylan listed math as his favorite subject because it involves many problems that can be related to real world problems.

When asked to name a favorite memory from his time at BCHS, Dylan wrote about playing in the semifinals during his sophomore football season. He said, “Even though we lost, it was a great atmosphere and a fun game.” 

After graduation, Dylan will attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he will major in actuarial science.
