Slate Even Kraft

Slate Even Kraft, son of Eric and Sonya Kraft, attended Battle Creek Public Schools for all thirteen years of his education.

Slate participated in football and basketball for four seasons, serving as team captain for both sports during his senior year. He also was a member of the track and field squad for two seasons. For his efforts on the gridiron, Slate was named to the All District honorable mention team this past fall.

Outside of athletics, Slate was involved as a Trailblazer for the past two years. He was on either the A honor roll or the A honorable mention honor roll during all of high school, and he was selected by his teachers as Student of the Month on four occasions. This past summer, Slate participated in Boys State after being chosen to represent BCHS by the local American Legion representatives.

Outside of school, Slate enjoys going out to eat and watching Netflix. In the summer months, he works as a lifeguard at the city pool.

When asked to name his favorite staff member, Slate mentioned Mr. Taylor Baumert, saying, “I only got him for a year, but I wish I would have had him for all four years because he made learning fun and he was a great coach.” Slate listed history as his favorite subject. He said, “I’ve always been interested in history and global issues.”

After graduation, Slate plans to attend Wayne State College to get a degree in forensic science.

Best wishes, Slate!
