Vaughn Robert Finkral

Vaughn Robert Finkral, son of Robert and Heidi Finkral, attended Dakota Valley Public Schools and St. John Lutheran School before coming to Battle Creek High School in the ninth grade. He is a member of St. John Lutheran Church.

Vaughn participated in football, track, and speech during all four years of high school; one act play production for three years; and robotics and quiz bowl for two. In addition, Vaughn danced in the coed dance performance as a junior and senior, and he has served as a Trailblazer for the past two years. 

For his efforts in speech and drama, Vaughn earned Outstanding Actor Awards as a junior and senior and was selected as the Outstanding Male Performer in speech as a junior. Following his senior football season, Vaughn was an All District Honorable Mention honoree. Vaughn was selected by his instructors to compete in the NECC Academic Contest on two occasions, and he has been on the A honor roll during all of high school.  He served this past year as the Speech and Drama Vice President.

Vaughn listed his favorite teacher as Mr. Mike Couch because “he is funny and cares about each student.” When asked to name a favorite course, Vaughn mentioned 10th grade biology, stating, “The teacher was fun, and the subject was interesting.” 

Outside of school, Vaughn enjoys playing video games, playing with his pets, and shooting guns.

Following his graduation, Vaughn plans to attend Northeast Community College to study electromechanical technology.
