M. Taake signing

Last month Battle Creek senior Makenna Taake signed a national letter of intent to participate in track and field for Wayne State College. Makenna was a three year state qualifier in the long jump and triple jump. Makenna also qualified for the 200 meter dash and was on two 4x100 relays at the state track meet during her career. She leaves Battle Creek as a 3-year medalist in the Class C long jump, earning 8th place as a freshman, finishing 4th place as a sophomore, and as a junior Makenna earned the gold medal as the Class C champion with a leap of 17’9.5”. During my tenure as the girls track and field coach at Battle Creek, Makenna leaves as one of the most decorated track and field athletes, earning six medals at the state track meet. She was a three-sport athlete during her time at Battle Creek competing in volleyball, basketball, and track and field. Makenna will be a great addition to the Wildcat Track and Field team focusing on the jumps while also finding a place to run on the track. Makenna, the daughter of Brian and Wendy Taake, will be majoring in pre-dentistry at Wayne State College.
