Congrats to the Battle Creek golf squad on claiming a runner up finish at the district meet held on Monday. Their finish was good enough for the entire squad to advance the the Nebraska State Golf Championships to be held next week in Kearney. Members of the squad include sophomore Payton Frederick, juniors Luke Stueve and Gavin Tegeler, and seniors Ty Heimes and Caydon McCracken.
In addition to advancing as a team, head coach Toby Thompson reported that three individuals also placed high enough to qualify as individuals for the golf state championships: Ty Heimes finished at districts in fifth place, Caydon McCracken recorded a sixth place finish, and Gavin Tegeler ended the day in tenth. All three will compete both with their team and as individuals in Kearney.
