Riley Claire Seifert

Riley Claire Seifert, daughter of BJ and Kari Seifert, has attended Battle Creek Public Schools for all thirteen years of her education. She is a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk.

Riley was active in volleyball, basketball, and track during all four years of high school. In volleyball, following her senior season, she earned Academic All State honors, was named to the Lincoln Journal Star First Team, was honorably mentioned by the Omaha World Herald, was on the All Conference Team, and was chosen for the All Area Second Team. As a junior, Riley was named to the All Conference squad and was on the All Area Third Team.  For her efforts on the basketball court, she was honorably mentioned by the Mid-State Conference as a freshman and was named to the All Conference team as a sophomore, junior and senior. In addition, after her senior season, she was named to the All Area Team and the All State Honorable Mention list. As a freshman, Riley was honored at the athletic banquet as Newcomer of the Year, and last year she earned the Brave Heart Award. In addition, Riley was a member of the dance team for two years.

Aside from athletics, Riley was a member of the National Honor Society for two years, participated in FCCLA for three years, and served on student council for four years. She served this past year as the vice president for the National Honor Society and has been her class secretary for three years.

Outside of school, Riley spends her time drawing, reading, napping, and spending time with her friends and family. She is currently employed part time at Goody’s Grill, and she worked in the fall at Poppy’s Pumpkin Patch.

Riley listed her favorite class as art because she gets to be creative and take a break from her more challenging courses. When asked to name a favorite teacher, Riley mentioned her first grade teacher, Mrs. Christine Mettler, stating, “We always had fun activities that went along with her lessons. She was always smiling and laughing in class, and I looked forward to going to school every day.” Riley listed her fondest memory from her time at BCHS as qualifying for state volleyball during her junior season. She mentioned that the moment was great because it was the first time Battle Creek had made it in many years.

After graduation, Riley plans to attend Wayne State College where she will major in elementary education.

Best wishes, Riley!
