Zach participated in football, basketball, and track during all four years of high school. For his efforts on the gridiron, Zach was named to the All Conference honorable mention list. In track, he is a three time state qualifier and a two time state medalist. As a freshman, he claimed a bronze as a member of the 4X400 meter relay, and last season he claimed a fourth place finish in the pole vault and set a new school record.  As a junior, Zach was the NSAA Academic All State Award honoree for track, and he claimed the same honor for football this past fall.

Aside from athletics, Zach has served as a Trailblazer for the past two years and is a member of the National Honor Society where he serves as the secretary and treasurer. He is the senior class president. Zach is a strong student who has been on the A honor roll during all semesters and was a Norfolk Elks Lodge Student of the Month honoree. Zach was chosen to compete in the Northeast Academic Contest by his instructors.

Outside of school, Zach enjoys hunting, fishing, boating and camping. He is active in 4H and in his church youth group. He has served as the 4H Vice President.

When asked to name a favorite instructor at BCHS, Zach listed Mr. Ryan Heller, stating, “Mr. Heller always tries to keep class fun and light, yet we learn a lot.”  Zach mentioned that calculus was his favorite subject because it was challenging. As a fondest memory from high school, Zach mentioned winning the conference championship in basketball during his sophomore year. He stated, “We beat two good teams that we were supposed to lose to.”

Zach plans to attend Concordia University and will major in pre-engineering. He also plans to compete in track and field for Concordia, specifically in the pole vault and the 110 hurdles.
