MINUTES          SPECIAL BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING             OCTOBER 30, 2025

The Board of Education held a special meeting on Thursday, October 30th in the conference room at the Battle Creek High School.  This meeting was advertised in the October 22nd edition of the Battle Creek Enterprise.  President Jeremy Pochop called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M.  Members present were Bo Brummels, Tammy Bierman, Paul Kuchar, Toby Thompson, and Tom Leathers.   Also present were Superintendent Jake Luhr, Principals Jeff Heimes and Curtis Childers, one visitor, staff member Ryan Stusse, and two Daikin Applied representatives. The open meeting law poster was discussed and posted and will be followed at every Board meeting.  To start the Board meeting, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Mr. Luhr discussed with the Board the scope of work presented by Daikin Applied for the replacement of mechanical equipment and HVAC systems at the Jr/Sr High School facility. Daikin Applied representatives answered questions from several board members about the project.

Bo Brummels made a motion to approve the scope of work by Daikin Applied for the replacement of mechanical equipment and HVAC systems at the Jr/Sr High School. Tom Leathers seconded the motion.  On roll call vote, the motion carried with six ayes. 

Toby Thompson made a motion to approve Superintendent Jake Luhr and Board President Jeremy Pochop to review and sign the contract with Daikin Applied to proceed with the scope of work by Daikin Applied for the replacement of mechanical equipment and HVAC systems at the Jr/Sr High School facility. Paul Kuchar seconded the motion. On roll call vote, the motion carried with six ayes.

Tom Leathers made a motion to approve Superintendent Jake Luhr to explore financing and funding options for the approved Daikin Applied project. Specific details of financing options to be presented to the Board at the November 2025 meeting. Bo Brummels seconded the motion. On roll call vote, the motion carried with six ayes.

With no further business, Board President Jeremy Pochop adjourned the meeting at 7:35 P.M.
