Battle Creek Public Schools received high praise during its October 2025 Nebraska Continuous Improvement external review. The visiting team, made up of administrators from other Nebraska schools, highlighted the district’s strong culture of excellence, high expectations, and commitment to student-centered decision-making.

Classroom visits showed high levels of student engagement through hands-on projects, collaborative work, and effective instructional routines. The district’s college and career readiness efforts—especially its work-based learning program, dual-credit offerings, and new agriculture/FFA facility—were noted as major strengths.

Reviewers commended the district’s progress in reading and math, its consistent use of a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS), and its practice of including paraprofessionals in professional development. Strong community partnerships and clear communication were also recognized. The review team concluded that Battle Creek Public Schools demonstrates a unified commitment to “what’s best for kids” and serves as a model of effective educational practice.

Areas for continued growth include expanding mental-health support, updating the mission and vision statement, and finding dedicated collaboration time for teachers. The district will use the findings as part of its ongoing improvement cycle and will continue working toward continuous improvement goals.
