Happy Friday everyone!
When we talk about education, the conversation often centers on academic achievement. Measures like NSCAS, MAP, and ACT scores are commonly used to compare or evaluate schools and districts. While this data is helpful and plays an important role in guiding instruction and curriculum, it’s only one part of the story.
At BCPS, we believe education is about much more than test scores. It’s about the whole child — supporting students academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. Like the parents and guardians who trust us with their children each day, we want our students to grow into people who are better than we are.
We work hard to help students develop accountability and dependability, show kindness, and take pride in their effort. We want them to find happiness, manage their emotions in healthy ways, and learn how to turn challenges into opportunities. These skills matter just as much as academic success, both in school and in life.
This is the work we commit to every day at BCPS. By holding high expectations in all areas — not just academics — we are helping shape a generation of students who are prepared to thrive. I can’t imagine wanting anything more for our children.
Happy Friday!
