MINUTES BOARD OF EDUCATION REPORT FEBRUARY 16, 2026
An emergency meeting of the Board of Education was held on February 16, 2026. Public notice of this meeting was posted at White Star, Battle Creek Post Office, Battle Creek Public School Building and posted on the school’s website news feed. President Jeremy Pochop called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. Members present were Tammy Bierman, Tom Leathers, Bo Brummels, and Paul Kuchar. Toby Thompson was absent. Also present was Superintendent Jake Luhr. The open meeting law poster was discussed and posted and will be followed at every Board meeting.
The board opened the floor for public comment.
Paul Kuchar made a motion to go into closed session to discuss an opportunity for the district to submit an offer to purchase real estate. Bo Brummels seconded the motion. On roll call vote the motion carried with 5 ayes. The closed session started at 6:03 P.M.
Bo Brummels made a motion to come out of closed session. Tom Leathers seconded the motion. On roll call vote the motion carried with 5 ayes. The closed session ended at 7:03 P.M.
Tom Leathers made a motion to authorize Superintendent Jake Luhr to submit an offer to purchase real estate. Tammy Bierman seconded the motion. On roll call vote, the motion carried with 4 ayes and 1 nay.
With no further business, Board President Jeremy Pochop adjourned the meeting at 7:03 PM.
