Happy Friday everyone,

Today at 1:30 marks the end of the third quarter for our students and staff. It’s always amazing how quickly the school year goes by. I can still remember standing in front of this year’s senior class in August and telling them how fast their final year of high school would pass. Now here we are, preparing to begin the fourth quarter on Monday.

Out of curiosity, I recently searched why school years are divided into quarters. One explanation suggested that quarters—typically 10-week terms—help create a faster-paced curriculum, allow for more course variety, and provide more frequent breaks throughout the year.

While that explanation makes sense, I believe the true value of quarterly breaks goes beyond scheduling. The start and end of each quarter give students and staff an opportunity to pause, reflect, and start fresh. They provide a chance to learn from challenges, reset goals, and think about what is working well and what may need to change, improve, or even stop altogether.

These brief transitions between quarters offer a valuable moment for reflection. The longest break, between the fourth and first quarters, gives us the most time to plan and implement positive changes. However, each new quarter still brings an opportunity to refocus and move forward with purpose.

Let’s make the most of our fourth quarter of the 2025–2026 school year!

Happy Friday!!
