Happy First Friday of 26-27 everyone!
"Attitude is everything" is a phrase we've all heard, and it applies to nearly every aspect of our lives—at school, at work, at home, in athletics, and in our relationships. The attitude we bring each day has the power to positively or negatively influence the environment around us.
As we begin the 2026-27 school year, one of the most important choices we can make is to start each day with a positive attitude. While we can't always control our circumstances, we can always choose how we respond to them. That choice often has a greater impact on our success than the challenges we face.
There will be moments this year that test us. We will encounter obstacles, setbacks, and opportunities to grow. Maintaining a positive attitude doesn't mean every challenge will be easy or every outcome will be perfect. It means having the courage to keep working, learning, and improving, even when success doesn't come immediately. A growth mindset reminds us that if we haven't mastered something yet, it simply means we're still learning.
This year marks my ninth year in Battle Creek and my 27th year in education. Each new school year brings excitement because it also brings new opportunities to learn, grow, and make a difference. I look forward to embracing those opportunities alongside each of you.
As we begin this new school year, I challenge each of us to choose a positive attitude every day. Together, we can create an environment where everyone feels encouraged to learn, grow, and succeed.
