Happy Friday, everyone!
I recently came across a short video clip about the pursuit of greatness, and I thought its message was worth quoting and sharing with all of you. I believe we can all relate to this message because, at some point in our lives, each of us has faced the challenge of deciding how much we are willing to sacrifice to achieve something meaningful.
"Everyone wants to be great until they see the invoice. Greatness will cost you sleep. It will cost you comfort. It will cost you being liked by everybody. The truth is most people aren't willing to pay for it. We love the idea of the trophy but we hate the process. We love the story of the champion but we want to skip the chapters where they were overlooked, rejected, and tested. But you can't skip it. You can't borrow greatness. You've gotta earn it in private when nobody's clapping, when nobody's checking, when nobody's posting about you. That's the real proving ground, those nights when you want to quit but choose to stay. Those mornings when you're tired but you get up anyway. Every rep you push when it doesn't feel worth it, that's when you're making the down payment on your dream. And when a day comes, when you finally walk into that moment you've been fighting for, it won't be luck, it won't be magic, it won't be coincidence. It will be because you looked at the price tag of greatness and you paid it in full."
The willingness to pay the invoice is what separates simply wanting something from being committed to achieving it. Success rarely comes without effort, sacrifice, and perseverance. In many cases, the things we gain without putting in the work are also the things we are most likely to lose.
It is also important to recognize that greatness looks different for each of us. Our goals, aspirations, and definitions of success may not be the same, but they all require something in return. Whether greatness means becoming a better educator, a stronger leader, a more effective teammate, or simply a better version of ourselves, we must be willing to put in the work and make the necessary sacrifices.
The question is not whether greatness comes with an invoice. The question is whether we are willing to pay it.
Happy Friday!!
