Construction Update 9/13/22:

Since the passage of the $7.9 million bond in March of 2022, Carlson West Povondra Architects and Hausmann Construction have been working on design development and budgeting.  This process included numerous meetings with administration and staff members at the end of the 21-22 school year.  Throughout the summer months and into the fall, we have been faced with record inflation, supply chain delays, and fluctuating materials costs.  All of these things have influenced the scope and definitely the budget of our upcoming construction projects.  As of right now, CWP is in the final stages of design  development plans.  Hausmann Construction is in the process of finalizing a budget that coincides with the design  development plans.  The next step for CWP is the composition of construction documents.  The next step for Hausmann is to provide BCPS with a GMP(Guaranteed Maximum Price) for the work to be completed.  Due to the impacts of inflation, materials costs, and supply chain delays, the timeline for starting and completing our additions and renovations has been pushed back 6 months.  Construction is now scheduled to begin in the Spring of 2023 with a completion date of Spring 2024.  Although this is later than we wanted, we believe that we will get the most scope for our budget by waiting to start in the Spring of 2023.  One project that will be completed as soon as possible is a temporary corridor/hallway at the elementary so 5th and 6th grade students do not have to travel outside to get from their classrooms to other parts of the building.
