We also recognized our 'Classroom Students of the Year', our 'Overall Class of the Year', and our 'Overall Student of the Year' as part of the End of the Year Ceremony.
Students recognized for 'Classroom Students of the Year' were Emersyn S., Charlee W., Kamden K., Carter O., Everly B., Hadlee T., Harlee W., Barrett K., Lydia F., Anleigh Q., Norah K., Cashton M., eagan A., Bentley K., Rowan A., Brielle L., Annalee N., Benjamin R., Cali W., Zane K., Alexa W., Regan S., Grace M., Liam T., Paleigh S., Barrett S., Payton A., Madison R., Peyton T., Easton O., and Tegan T.
Our 'Overall Class of the Year' for the 2022-23 school year was Miss Hasebroock's 1st Grade Class! As a class, they showcased so many qualities we desire at Battle Creek Elementary. Each student made academic progress throughout the school year, but even more importantly than that, they progressed as people and citizens within our school and community. Miss Hasebroock set expectations for them and the students continued to meet and/or exceed those expectations, even during the final days of the school year. They were a class that consistently worked to hold each other accountable and be their very best. As an administrator, I am proud of the progress they made, simply because it was a daily effort to be their very best, which is what ultimately separated them from the other classes.
Our 'Overall Student of the Year' for the 2022-23 school year at Battle Creek Elementary was Payton Arens. Payton did exceptional things and truly developed into a leader within our elementary school. She led with her actions and was also noticed by our younger students consistently doing the right thing. During the school year, Payton was willing to help whenever necessary and her teacher was always able to count on her to do what was asked when helping other students. Payton has the ability to be ‘silly and have fun’, but also knows exactly when to buckle down and get to work. As the ‘Overall Student of the Year’, Payton’s teacher noted that she will be remembered at Battle Creek Elementary for her kindness, academic drive, and silent competitiveness.
