Tonight the Battle Creek FCCLA chapter celebrated parents night! They had the opportunity to shine the light on their members and show their gratitude to their graduating seniors. Congratulations to the members, and we can’t wait to see what we can accomplish next year!

The annual Battle Creek FFA Banquet will be held next Friday, May 5th at 6:00 PM. Please join us then for a meal, recognition to our members, and the installation of the 2023-2024 officer team! Following the banquet will be our labor auction fundraiser. We hope to see you there!

1st Grade Monster Collaboration with the High School Art 1 & 2 classes was a BIG success! My high schoolers worked really hard on creating the sewing project based off on the 1st graders drawings. Thank you 1st graders for walking over this morning to meet your high school buddies!

The BCPS Athletic Department is excited to introduce Mr. Brad Lanman as the next head girls golf coach. Lanman, a 5th grade teacher, is currently the assistant boys golf coach and has a true love for the game. We look forward to Coach Lanman leading our girls golf program!
Afftynn Maureen Stusse, daughter of Ryan and Kalee Stusse, attended Pierce Elementary School from preschool until halfway through her third grade year when she and her family moved to Battle Creek. Afftynn is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Battle Creek.
Afftynn participated in cross country and wrestling during all four years of high school. She was a four year state qualifier in cross country. Afftynn will always be remembered at BCHS for being the first female grappler, leading the way for all who follow her in the sport at the Home of the Purple and Gold. She capped her career at the school by claiming her spot atop the podium at the Nebraska State Wrestling Championships in February of 2023.
Aside from athletics, Afftynn is a four year member of the student council and a two year member of one act play production as well as FCCLA. She is a member of the National Honor Society and was selected by the study body as the homecoming queen in the fall of 2022.
Outside of school, Afftynn works at Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek where she is a certified nursing assistant.
After high school, Afftynn will attend Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, where she will wrestle for the Knights. She plans to major in exercise science before working toward a career in nursing.
