We also honored our students that were nominated for Student of the Month, our Overall Student of the Month, and our Class of the Month. The Class of the Month was Mrs. Taake's Kindergarten Class. The class is ready to learn each day and they make great decisions involving our three pillar words of Being Safe, Being Respectful, and Being Responsible. Mrs. Taake's Class models 'Being Safe' through walking in the hallway and following playground expectations, they model 'Being Respectful' by listening to their teacher and other adults at all times, and they model 'Being Responsible' through picking up after each other and doing as they are told right away. The class has set the bar high for all the classes and I believe they’ll continue to raise that bar through meeting and exceeding all our expectations throughout the year. The Student of the Month for August was Norah K. Norah continually meets all our expectations and even goes above and beyond to be her very best. Mrs. Tillotson stated, “Norah was nominated for following directions, participating in class, being friendly to others, being helpful in all areas of the classroom, giving 100% effort on everything they do, and for being a great role model for all the other students in the classroom and school. Norah approaches school with a business-like mentality, but she also knows that smiling and having fun is part of each day.”

Winners of the drawings for meeting and exceeding our three big expectations / pillar words for the month of August are shown below. Winning Brownies and Ice Cream were Madison R., Lily G., Isaiah W., Claire M., Cora D., Adelyn O., Kinley W., and Aiden V. (not pictured). Winning the 'Class Extra Recesses' were Axton T. and Adrian S. Winning the 'Lunch with the Principal' was Elena T.

On Friday, September 2nd, Battle Creek Elementary held their monthly assembly. The assembly consisted of celebrating June, July, and August birthdays, rewarding students for positive behavior via drawings, and we honored our August Class of the Month and August Student of the Month! Our mission for the month of August was to learn and meet our three pillar words / phrases of 'Being Safe, Being Respectful, and Being Responsible' in all areas of the school and community. We also discussed our September mission, which is to 'Point the Thumb, Not the Finger'. This means taking responsibility for our actions (both good and bad) and working on owning what we do rather than pushing blame on others. Pictured below are our June, July and August birthdays.
