Tyler Clifford Hassler, son of Curtis and Shannon Hassler, attended preschool at St. John’s Lutheran School in Battle Creek before coming to Battle Creek Public Schools for the remainder of his education. While at BCHS, Tyler was active in football and basketball for four seasons each. He also participated in track for three years. Aside from athletics, Tyler served as a Trailblazer his senior year. Tyler has been on the A/B Honor Roll during all four years of high school. When asked to name a favorite staff member at BCHS, Tyler listed Mr. Jonah Heng because he “is a fun and energetic teacher.” He also appreciates that Mr. Heng pushes him to do his best. Tyler named Digital Media as his favorite class because it brings out his creativity. Outside of school, Tyler is employed at HyVee as a checker. In his free time, Tyler likes to shoot hoops and play video games. Over the summer, he enjoys camping with his family. After graduation, Tyler plans to attend Northeast Community College to pursue a degree in construction.

Caleb Michael Brauer, son of Marisa and Richard Brauer, attended St. John’s Lutheran School from preschool until eighth grade before coming to Battle Creek High School to further his education. Caleb is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. While attending BCHS, Caleb was active in football and track for four years, and basketball for three. In football, he was named to the All District Honorable Mention list, and he received an invitation to play in the Northeast Nebraska All Star Game to be held over the summer. For his efforts in the classroom, Caleb has been on the A-B Honor Roll during all four years of high school. When asked to name a favorite class and teacher, Caleb listed his history class with Mr. Taylor Baumert because he always makes learning “fun and interesting.” Caleb mentioned that Mr. Baumert is a great teacher and coach because of his effort to engage his students and players. Looking back on his times at BCHS, Caleb mentioned that his favorite memory was winning gold in the 4x100 meter relay at the Nebraska State Track and Field Championships with his brother Rich and teammates Landon Olson and Baron Buckendahl. He also listed his senior football season as something he will also always remember. Outside of school, Caleb enjoys playing cards and chess and walking his dogs. After high school, Caleb plans to begin at Northeast Community College toward a degree in secondary education. He plans to become a high school math or history teacher.

Eligh Matthew Jaster, son of Shanna and Chad Guernsey and Brian Jaster, attended Lincoln Elementary School in Norfolk from preschool until the sixth grade. He then transferred to Stanton Public School for his junior high years. Eligh then attended Norfolk High School for his freshman year and Burwell High School for his sophomore year. He came to Battle Creek in the middle of his junior year where he has remained ever since. Eligh played basketball for two seasons. He listed his favorite staff member as Mr. Mike Couch because he is relaxed and likes to joke around. Eligh listed his favorite time during the day as shop class because “there is never a dull moment.” When asked to state a favorite memory from his time at BCHS, Eligh stated that he will always remember when his classmates Dade and Quintin flipped the canoe while on their junior blaze day at Timberlake Ranch Camp. Outside of school, Eligh is a member of First Christian Church in Norfolk. Some of his hobbies include fishing, gaming, and being with friends and family. Eligh has worked at Runza as a cook for over a month now. After high school, Eligh plans to pursue a career in law enforcement.

Clayton Alan Christensen, son of Jed and Janice Christensen, attended King’s Kids Preschool and then attended Norfolk Catholic Schools from kindergarten until the end of his freshman year. He came to Battle Creek High as a sophomore. While at BCHS, Clayton was active in football, track, and FFA for two years. In FFA, he has been awarded the Greenhand Degree as well as the Chapter Degree. Outside of school, Clayton enjoys the great outdoors. He loves to hunt, fish, camp, boat, trap and participate in archery. He also enjoys spending time with his family and friends. In addition, he greatly enjoys working on the farm with his dad where he is currently employed. When asked to name a favorite teacher and class, Clayton listed Mrs. Angela Gray and the Workplace Communication course he is taking through Northeast Community College. He stated, “Mrs. Gray makes class fun, and she is always helpful and understanding.” Clayton’s fondest memory from his time at BCHS was prom his junior year. After graduation, Clayton plans to study diversified agriculture at Northeast Community College with future plans of working on the family farm.

NECC will be here tomorrow morning at 8:30 to help 10th and 11th graders who are interested in taking a dual-credit class next year to complete the NECC Early College application. The student will need their social security number.
