Justine Ann Kurpgeweit, daughter of Shannon and Sarah Kurpgeweit, attended Battle Creek Public Schools for all thirteen years of her education. Justine was involved in cheerleading, speech, one act play production, and band during all four years of high school. She was also involved in FFA for three years and mock trial and National Honor Society for one year each. Justine served as a cheer captain for two years and as the FFA reporter and vice president during her junior and senior years. She was also a class officer for her freshman, sophomore, and junior years, and a band officer during her sophomore, junior, and senior years. Justine was awarded a speech and drama, band, and cheer letter for all four years. She was also on the A Honor Roll all four years of high school. For her success in the classroom and character, Justine was selected as a Student of the Month on four occasions. When asked to name a favorite instructor at BCHS, Justine listed Mrs. LeAnn Frauendorfer, stating,“Her class was always fun and interactive, and she instilled my love of literature.” Justine’s favorite class was Spanish because “Mrs. [Jenni] Frey always makes class fun, and I enjoy learning about other cultures.” Justine’s fondest memory of her time at BCHS was attending the State FFA Convention in Lincoln her junior year. She enjoyed getting to meet people from all over the state and making memories. Outside of school she enjoys reading, baking, being outside with her animals, and spending time with her friends and family. She is also involved in 4-H and has had several projects qualify for the Nebraska State Fair. Justine has worked at Renegade in Norfolk for two years. After high school, Justine plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. She plans to pursue a degree in secondary English education.

Preston Paul Henn, son of Becky Henn, attended Norfolk Public Schools until the second grade. He came to Battle Creek in the third grade, and he has remained here ever since. Preston is a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Battle Creek. Preston was active in wrestling for two years and football for one season. Aside from athletics, Preston was also a trailblazer during his senior year. He received the following honors while a student at BCHS: Most Improved Wrestler, Student of the Month, and Character of the Month. Preston listed his favorite teacher as Mrs.Teresa Christensen, former history instructor, stating, “She truly believed and encouraged my dreams.” He also named band as his favorite class, stating, “In the class, I felt like I could show my true personality and talent.” Preston listed the annual Rock Band concerts as his favorite memories of high school. Outside of school, Preston works part-time as a DJ. He has also been employed at Pizza Hut for two months. After graduation, Preston plans to go directly into the workforce.

Dylan Mical Hitz, son of Todd and Heather Hitz, attended St. John’s Lutheran School from preschool through the eighth grade before coming to BCHS for his high school education. Dylan is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. Dylan was a member of the Battle Creek FFA chapter for three years where he served as the chapter’s parliamentarian during his senior year. In regards to FFA, Dylan received his Greenhand Degree and his Chapter Degree. When asked to name a favorite instructor at BCHS, Dylan named Mr. Taylor Baumert because “he is fun to be around.” He listed his favorite class as Building Construction. Dylan’s favorite memory while attending BCHS was state FFA his junior year. Outside of school, Dylan enjoys hunting and fishing, and he works as a farm hand for Jared Gubbels, a job he has held for the past two years. After graduation, Dylan plans to attend Northeast Community College to pursue a degree in diversified agriculture.

Dylan Hitz
Elijah Lee Hintz, son of Steve and Kathy Hintz, attended Trinity Lutheran School in Madison for grades preschool through the fourth grade. He then transferred to Battle School Public Schools where he has remained ever since. Eli is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison. Eli was active in football for all four years of high school and wrestling for two seasons. He was named to the All Conference and All State squads for his efforts on the gridiron. This past winter, Eli finished in fourth place at the Nebraska State Wrestling Championships. When asked to name a favorite instructor at BCHS, he mentioned Mr. Taylor Baumert. Outside of school, Eli works part time at HyVee in the meat department. After graduation, Eli plans to attend Wayne State College to play football and study elementary education.
