Jaxon Ronald Mettler, son of Heath and Christine Mettler, attended Christ Lutheran Preschool in Norfolk before coming to Battle Creek Public Schools for the remainder of his schooling. Jaxon is an active member of United Methodist Church. Jaxon competed in football and basketball during all four years of high school, and he was a three-year member of the track squad. He currently is a member of the golf squad. Jaxon served as team captain in football as a junior and senior and was a basketball captain this past winter. For his efforts on the gridiron, Jaxon received numerous awards. As a junior, he was named to the All-State Honorable Mention list, and he made the All-District Second Team. During his senior season, Jaxon was named Player of the Game following the contest against Boone Central. He was selected to the All-District First Team and All-State squad for his efforts on defense. After Jaxon’s junior season of basketball, he was listed to the All-State Honorable Mention list. After a senior season game against Lutheran High Northeast, Jaxon was named Player of the Game. Outside of school, Jaxon plays American Legion baseball during the summer months, something he has done for five years. Aside from athletics, Jaxon has been a leader in school, receiving a Character of the Month award. Jaxon listed Digital Media as one of his favorite classes. He stated, “Every day is new, and students are able to work on their own projects.” He also mentioned how he enjoys being able to post for the school's sporting events. American History was another course that Jaxon named as one of his favorites. He mentioned that “Mr. Taylor Baumert made each day and every lesson engaging and fun.” Jaxon also brought up how much he enjoyed the conversations that took place in Mr. Baumert’s classroom. When asked about his fondest memories, Jaxon described his junior year prank wars with Mr. Baumert. He specifically mentioned how on the last day of school he and classmates moved Mr. Baumert’s desk and placed it in the boys’ bathroom. While this was happening, Mr. Baumert stole Jaxon’s car and parked it back at his house for him to find later. When asked to name a favorite staff member, Jaxon listed Mr. Junior Aguilar, stating, “Every day he brings a great attitude to class and does his best to keep his lessons entertaining and enjoyable.” Outside of school, Jaxon enjoys working out and staying active. He also mentioned how he enjoys golfing and hanging out with his girlfriend. After high school, he plans to attend the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. He will major in kinesiology and minor in sports management. Jaxon has aspirations to become a chiropractor.

Lexi Mae Rajaee, daughter of Felicia and Nick Rajaee, attended Norfolk Public Schools before coming to Battle Creek Public Schools as a sophomore. Lexi participated in football and track in junior high. Aside from school, Lexi holds a part-time job at Cosmoprof and a seasonal job at Nelson’s Alternative Livestock. In her free time, she enjoys doodling and hanging out with friends. When asked to name a favorite staff member at Battle Creek High, Lexi named Mrs. Cathy Thompson because she has always been there for her. She listed art as her favorite subject because it was always a fun class that allowed her to be creative. Lexi noted that the Burning of the BC her sophomore year will always be a most memorable moment from her time attending Battle Creek High; she explained that this event was a warm welcome that she had never experienced. After high school, Lexi plans to get her tattoo license so she can be employed part-time while attending school at Northeast Community College. She plans to be part of their two year autobody repair program.

Devin Ray Hassler, son of Curtis and Shannon Hassler, attended St. John Lutheran School in Battle Creek for preschool before coming to Battle Creek Public Schools for the remainder of his education. Devin participated in football for three seasons and in wrestling and track during all four years of high school. For his efforts on the mat, Devin earned an Iron Man Award and an honor for the Most Exciting Match. In addition, he was a member of the State Dual Championship team as a senior. In cross country this past fall, Devin served as one of the team captains. Aside from athletics, Devin served as a Trailblazer this past year, and he earned a Student of the Month award on one occasion. Outside of school, Devin is employed at Jimmy John’s. In addition, he completed basic training and is a member of the Army National Guard. When he has free time, Devin enjoys hanging out with family and friends. When asked to name a favorite teacher at Battle Creek High, Devin named Mr. Jonah Heng because he is able to “make learning and athletics fun.” Devin listed his favorite subject as science because he enjoys learning the different processes and likes doing projects. Devin said that some of his fondest memories are from running and competing in track with his older brother as a freshman and sophomore. He also enjoyed playing football with his brother. Devin commented that he could never thank the students and staff enough for all the great experiences he had at BCHS. After high school, Devin plans to finish his military training before attending college at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. He will be a member of their cross country and track teams while studying secondary science education there.

Tori Rose Nelson, daughter of Julie Nelson, has attended Battle Creek Public Schools for all thirteen years of her education. Tori was active in volleyball for one season and speech for two. For her efforts in speech, she earned a varsity letter. She was also part of FCCLA for four years where she qualified for nationals and secured a fourth place finish.Tori has also been honored as Student of the Month. When asked to name a favorite teacher, Tori mentioned Mrs. Leigha Kern, stating, “She truly shows interest in what her students do and tries to understand everyone.” Tori named art as her favorite class because she is able to express herself and relax while painting. One of Tori’s fondest memories from her time at Battle Creek was the senior blaze day; she said it was her favorite because it gave her a chance to get closer and learn more about her classmates. Outside of school, Tori works as a dietary aide at Community Pride Care Center, a position she has held for the past year. In her free time, Tori enjoys hanging out with friends, working, and sleeping. After high school, Tori plans to attend Northeast Community College for two years where she will study criminal justice. She then plans to attend Wayne State College to study social work.

Brooklyn Ann Sullivan, daughter of Kim and Scott Sullivan, attended Norfolk Catholic before coming to Battle Creek High School in seventh grade. She is a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Norfolk. Brooklyn was involved in cross country and FFA for all four years of high school. She has served as a Trailblazer during the past two years and was involved in track for three seasons. During her time in FFA, Brooklyn was awarded the Green-Hand Degree, the Chapter Degree, and the State Degree. She qualified for state three times in the floriculture competition. She has been named both Student of the Month and Character Student of the Month. For her efforts in cross country, Brooklyn was honored as Teammate of the Year, and she also received the Reliability Award. At season’s end, she was also named to the Academic All-State list for the squad. Outside of school, Brooklyn enjoys running, shopping, biking, and camping. She has worked as a certified nursing assistant and a culinary assistant at Heritage of Bel-Air Nursing Home for the past two years. Brooklyn listed her favorite teacher as Mr. Jonah Heng, stating, “He makes class interesting every day”. She listed Digital Media as her favorite course because she loves getting to be creative and trying new techniques on the computer. After high school, Brooklyn will attend Wayne State College to earn a bachelor's degree in business. After college, she plans to move away for a while and get her real estate license.

Ryleey Jo Schulte, daughter of Mandy and Matt Schulte, attended Norfolk Public Schools before coming to Battle Creek High School as a sophomore. Ryleey is a member of First United Methodist Church in Norfolk, Nebraska. Ryleey was a three-year dance team member, and she participated on the wrestling team her sophomore year. Her participation in both activities rewarded her with a varsity letter. Ryleey listed her favorite teacher as Mrs. Stephanie Nelson, stating, “She is so sweet and laid back. She is always there for me and someone to talk to.” Ryleey named art as her favorite class because she can choose what she wants to create and freely express herself. One of Ryleey’s fondest memories from her time at Battle Creek was the senior blaze day; she said it was her favorite because she got to spend the whole day with her friends. She also made mention of the fun waterslide activity her class participated in. Outside of school, Ryleey is active at Paulyn’s Dance Studio in Norfolk. In her spare time, Ryleey enjoys working out, going to church, and hanging out with her friends and family. She also has been working as a certified nursing assistant at Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek for six months. In the summertime, Ryleey works as a lifeguard at Aquaventure in Norfolk; this summer will be her fourth year as a lifeguard. After high school, Ryleey plans to attend Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska, to pursue something in the medical field while being a member of the Aristocats dance team.
