Athletic Banquet
May 1, 2024

Leah Marie Tillman, daughter of Sarah and Joshua Tillman, was homeschooled before attending St. John Lutheran School from first grade through sixth grade. She came to Battle Creek High School as a seventh grader where she has remained ever since. She is a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek.
Leah was active in cheer and track during all four years of high school. She served as a cheer captain as a senior. She was also in dance for three years, serving as a captain her junior year. In addition, Leah was involved in cross country this past fall where she received the Team Captain Award.
Aside from athletics, Leah was active in one act play production, speech, and band during all four years. In one act, she was named Best Female Actress. For her efforts in speech, Leah was a state qualifier as a junior and as a senior. Leah has also been a member of National Honor Society over the past two years, where she currently serves as a secretary. She has been in choir and has served as a trailblazer over the past two years as well. Leah was selected as Student of the Month and Character Student of the Month on four occasions. She also represented Battle Creek at Cornhusker Girls State last summer.
Outside of school, Leah enjoys playing softball and is an active member of St. John Lutheran Youth LIGHT group. She enjoys doing art as a hobby and is employed at Goody’s Grill where she works as a hostess and busser.
When asked to name a favorite teacher at BCHS, Leah listed Mr. Junior Aguilar, stating, “He helped me pass chemistry by making the class interesting.” She also listed that he was the coolest speech coach she ever had. Leah listed her favorite subject as art because she enjoys starting the day stress free and loves doing hands-on crafts to create something beautifully imperfect.
After graduation, Leah will attend Northeast Community College for two years to study business. After that, she plans to attend Wayne State College to obtain a degree in interior design.
