Kayley Mae Lingenfelter, daughter of Kory and Kyley Lingenfelter, attended Battle Creek Public Schools for all thirteen years of her education. She is an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk.
Kayley was active in cross country and track and field during all four years of high school. In cross country, she served as the team captain her senior year. She was named Most Dedicated Teammate of the Year on two occasions, and she was honored with the Reliability Award. She lettered four times in cross country and three seasons in track.
Aside from sports, Kayley served as a Trailblazer and was active in student council for two years. She was selected as Student of the Month on three occasions and Character Student of the Month on two occasions. Kayley was involved in FFA for one year where she qualified for state and received her Green Hand Award. She was also involved in yearbook for two years.
When asked to name a favorite teacher at BCHS, Kayley mentioned two: Mrs. Christine Mettler, her first grade teacher, and her coach, Mr. Jonah Heng. She stated, “Mrs. Mettler always brought positive energy to the classroom and made learning fun.” When asked about Mr. Heng, Kayley said, “Even through all the miles he put me through, Mr. Heng made me find a love for running. His coaching wasn't just about running; it was about building mental toughness.” Kayely mentioned yearbook as a class that she enjoyed, saying” This class always has a positive environment and lets me get to be a part of photographing many memories for our school.”
Kayley listed her fondest memory at BCHS as her senior season of cross country. She said, “I created bonds and memories with many people that I will always remember.”
Outside of school, Kayley enjoys staying active by running, hunting, and hanging out with friends and family.
After graduation, Kayley plans to attend Northeast Community College. While there, she will study exercise science.

Mason Planer, son of Tammy and Frank Planer, attended school in Norfolk before coming to Battle Creek High School.
Mason was involved in football, wrestling, and golf during all four years of high school. In wrestling, he was a two-time state qualifier, placing sixth his junior year and fourth this past winter.
Outside of school, Mason enjoys golfing, fishing, and playing cards. He also holds a job at the Liberty Center where he serves as a medical aide.
Mason listed his favorite teacher as former instructor Mr. Mike Couch, stating, “He was the best.” He named shop as his favorite class because he likes working with his hands. When asked to name a favorite memory from his time at BCHS, Mason stated that he will always remember winning in the heartbreak round at districts in front of the home crowd his junior wrestling season. He stated, “I am very grateful to be a part of the best wrestling team in Battle Creek history.”
After high school, Mason will attend Southeast Community College in Beatrice where he will study business and will be a part of their wrestling team.

Gavin Conrad Robert Korth, son of Tara Buell-Korth and Chad Korth, attended Christ Lutheran School in Norfolk before coming to Battle Creek in second grade.
Gavin participated in basketball, football, and track during all four years of high school. He served as a basketball captain during his senior season. Gavin received a Scholar Athlete Award, was named Football Practice Player of the Year, and lettered several times for his efforts in athletics.
Aside from athletics, Gavin has served as a Trailblazer for the past two years. He has earned Character Student of the Month honors, and has been nominated more than once to compete at the scholastic contest held at Northeast Community College. Outside of school, Gavin works with his dad on the family farm.
When asked to name a favorite teacher, Gavin mentioned former social studies instructor Mr. Taylor Baumert because he taught him many lessons in sports, the classroom, and life in general. Gavin listed accounting as his favorite class. He said this was a small class, and they learned a lot while also having fun. Gavin’s fondest memory from his time at BCHS was sitting at the lunch table with his friends and sharing many laughs junior year.
After high school, Gavin will attend the University of South Dakota to earn a business administration degree.

Brek Rilynn Thompson, son of Mark Thompson and Diane Kruse, started his education in Creighton, Nebraska, before coming to the Battle Creek Public Schools for the remainder of his education.
Brek participated in football, wrestling, and track during all four years of high school, and he was in FFA for one year. In football, Brek served as a football captain his senior year, and he was named to the All-State squad. On the mats, he was a captain for two years, made the All- Conference list three times, and was a state champ his junior season. Brek was able to help lead his team to back-to-back state championships as well as a state dual championship his senior year. Brek earned a varsity letter two years in track and all four years in football and wrestling. As a junior, Brek was named Lifter of the Year at the athletic banquet his junior year.
In his free time, Brek enjoys working out, woodworking, working on cars, and spending time with his girlfriend.
When asked to name a favorite teacher at BCHS, Brek noted that Mrs. Stephanie Nelson’s understanding personality made her his favorite. He said, “She’s easy to talk to and helps me find new things to do.” He listed art as his favorite subject. His fondest memory from his time at BCHS was winning state because of the emotions and environment.
At this time, Brek is undecided as to his future plans, but he is interested in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC.


Alexis Kathryn Hoffmann, daughter of Justin and Jodi Hoffmann, attended Battle Creek Public Schools for her entire education. She is an active member of Heartland Baptist Church in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Alexis participated in numerous activities throughout high school with FFA as her longest commitment. For her loyalty, she has received various awards. She was selected to serve as FFA Secretary her senior year and was a three-time FFA state qualifier. Alexis was a dedicated member of the girls’ wrestling team for three seasons. During her senior season, she qualified for the state meet. Alexis also participated in student council for three years. For two years, she was involved in volleyball and served as a Trailblazer.
When asked to name a favorite staff member at the school, Alexis mentioned Mrs. Cathy Thompson, stating, “She has done so much for me and is always there; she does everything.”
Outside of school, Alexis was an active competitor in 4-H for 12 years. She created static exhibits, sewed, baked, and showed cattle since the age of five. For her efforts, she received multiple awards for exhibits and showing livestock. In addition, Alexis has worked as a sales associate at Renegade for almost two years.
In her free time, Alexis enjoys reading, watching movies, playing card games, and going to church.
After high school, Alexis will attend Northeast Community College for two years before transferring to Wayne State College to finish her education. She will pursue a degree in early childhood education.

Sydney Grace Kuchar, daughter of Paul and Kristine Kuchar, attended Battle Creek Public Schools for all thirteen years of her education. She is a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Battle Creek.
Sydney was a four-year member of volleyball, track, and FFA and a one year member of the basketball squad. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and served as a Trailblazer for the past two years.
Sydney was a three-time state qualifier in FFA. She was an Agriscience Fair State Champ. She was also a three-time state qualifier in track and field. In track and volleyball, she was honored on the Academic All-State list.
For her efforts in the classroom, Sydney was on the A honor roll throughout high school, and she was named to the Northeast Community College President’s Honor List for her dual credit coursework. She is a two-time recipient of Student of the Month honors, and she was selected twice for Character Student of the Month honors. In the fall, Sydney was chosen as homecoming queen, an honor voted on by the student body.
When asked to name a favorite instructor at BCHS, Sydney named Mr. Jonah Heng because he always encourages her to do her best, and he makes the classroom a fun environment to be in. She listed her favorite class as Digital Media because it is fun to make all the graphics and videos that represent our school and it allows her to be creative. Sydney mentioned that her fondest memories revolve around competing at state track in Omaha. She said that they always have fun, and she loves to cheer on her teammates in their events.
Outside of school, Sydney enjoys hanging out with friends and family, camping, and shopping. She also holds a part-time job at Heritage of Bel Air where she is a culinary assistant.
After high school, Sydney plans to attend Wayne State College where she will study to become a speech-language pathologist.


Micah Arzie James Prauner, son of Christopher and Sellan Prauner, attended St. John Lutheran School before coming to Battle Creek Public Schools for the remainder of his education. Micah is a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek.
Micah was active in track for two years and football for all four years of high school.
When asked to name a favorite instructor at BCHS, Micah listed former shop instructor Mr. Mike Couch. Micah stated that weights was his favorite class. When asked to mention a favorite memory from his time at BCHS, Micah said that it was the time when he put a snake near Coach Carlson while at football practice.
Outside of school, Micah enjoys going to the gym and hanging out with friends.
After graduation, Micah plans to attend Wayne State College to major in business.
