Gavin Michael Lindgren, son of Sean and Murranda Lindgren, attended Battle Creek Public Schools for all thirteen years of his education. Gavin is an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk, NE.

While at BCHS, Gavin participated in golf during all four years and football for two seasons. On the greens, Gavin lettered during all four years and qualified for state as a junior. Aside from athletics, Gavin participated in FFA for three years, and he was a Trailblazer for two. Gavin was selected as Character Student of the Month as a freshman.

When asked to name a favorite instructor at BCHS, Gavin listed business teacher Mr. Kobe Lade. Gavin stated, “His class is always fun, and he is easy to joke around with.” Gavin named his favorite class as Digital Media, commenting that it is fun because he enjoys covering the different activities.

Outside of school, Gavin’s hobbies include golfing, fishing, and traveling. After graduation, Gavin plans to attend the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and will study finance.

Colten Joseph Melcher, son of Cliff and Bobbi Melcher, attended St. John Lutheran School in Battle Creek before coming to Battle Creek High School at the start of his freshman year.

During high school, Colten was on the Honorable Mention Honor Roll. When asked to name a favorite teacher at BCHS, he mentioned Mr. Kobe Lade because “he is the most laid back.” Colten mentioned that Personal Finance and Fitness are his favorite classes.

Outside of school, Colten enjoys riding dirtbikes. He also has his own mowing business, an endeavor that he took on three years ago. Following graduation, Colten plans to attend Northeast Community College to earn his CDL Certification in truck driving.

Trent Dean Scheer, son of Todd and Michelle Scheer, attended St. John Lutheran School in Battle Creek before coming to Battle Creek High School at the start of his freshman year.

When asked to name a favorite staff member, Trent listed Mrs. Jessica Eymann, stating, “She’s very helpful and will get you through it.” One of Trent’s fondest memories from his time at BCHS is when the tractors blew the injectors in the shop and made the ceiling black.

Outside of school Trent spends his time mowing, working on cars, farming, and hunting. Trent is self-employed and has been mowing for the past two years. After high school, Trent hopes to pursue a career at Nucor.

With our early dismissal on Friday, Kindergarten roundup will be shortened slightly for the afternoon session. Our afternoon session will now run from 12:20pm until 2:40pm. The morning session will remain as originally scheduled. Buses will run accordingly for regular morning and afternoon bus students.

Connor Allen Heiderman, son of Marissa and Josh Heiderman, attended Norfolk Public Schools before coming to Battle Creek High School at the start of his freshman year. Connor is an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk.

Connor participated in football, wrestling, and track during all four years of high school. In football and wrestling, he served as a team captain during his senior seasons. As a senior, Connor placed 4th at the state wrestling meet, and he helped his team capture three state wrestling championships as well as a state dual championship when he was a junior. Aside from athletics, Connor has served as a Trailblazer for two years and has been involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes since the organization’s induction in the fall of 2025.

Outside of school, Connor enjoys pheasant hunting and working out. When asked to name a favorite staff member, Connor listed Mr. Frank Planner, stating, “Every time I see him, he is always in a good mood.” Connor mentioned that his favorite class was English III with Mrs. Angela Gray because he enjoyed reading The Great Gatsby. His favorite memory during his time at BCHS was the football game against Malcolm his junior season.

After graduation, Connor plans to attend South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD, where he will play football for the Jackrabbits.

On Saturday, the speech team competed at their home invitational, the BC Braves Classic. This was the JV team's final meet of the year. They finished the season as tournament champions! Out of fifteen schools, the varsity team finished as tournament runner-up. Individual results are attached. The varsity team will be back in action at Lutheran High this Friday and at home on Saturday for Conference.
