Battle Creek Public Schools Work Based Learning program is providing hands on opportunities for this senior @jacob_ottis211 today. Thanks for Brian Wysoki for sharing his time and talents with our student.

Our Battle Creek Elementary students are looking to help out community members, most specifically those that can't do the cleaning on their own, by raking leaves and bagging them up around houses/yards. We will send individual classes out into the community, so we think we can do 10-15 lawns on Tuesday afternoon, November 8th. If you or someone you know could use the support, let us know by calling the school and/or emailing cchilders@bcpsne.info ... The lawns need to be within walking distance of the school, so in the town of Battle Creek. Our students and staff will provide the workers and the rakes, but we ask that you provide the bags for us to put the leaves into.

On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, the senior “farm management” class went/will be going to the elementary for “elementary outreach.” The seniors designed a presentation and games for the elementary students to learn more about FFA and Battle Creek’s chapter. On Wednesday, Mr. Olson’s 6th grade class greatly enjoyed their experience!

As part of our October Monthly Assembly at Battle Creek Elementary, we also had our Costume Parade. The next several posts will be pictures of individual classrooms, grade levels, and the whole school yesterday.
Pictured below are our PK, Kindergarten, and 2nd grade students.

The October Student of the Month was Teagan A. Teagan is the type of student that knows and meets our expectations on a daily basis. She is constantly working to help wherever she can and she is a great friend to her classmates, as well as other students throughout the school. Teagan is a student our school can count on to help their classmates meet the expectations through leading with her actions and holding herself to a high standard for both her behavior and her academics.
The October Class of the Month was Mr. Lanman’s 5th Grade Class! They have worked hard to start the school year and they were just short the previous two months due to small decisions they made that were within their control. During the month of October, they made sure to fix those ‘small things’ and even had a few leaders step up throughout the month to help hold each other accountable. Those leaders helped the class meet the expectations, they led by example, and they weren’t afraid to step-in and help wherever necessary. They even had a student volunteer to take a job that wasn’t theirs (not necessarily a fun job) because the student that was supposed to do it was not able to. Mr. Lanman’s 5th Grade Class has made huge strides and they have the potential to truly be leaders within the elementary school.

Battle Creek Elementary recently held their October monthly assembly, as well as their Costume Parade. The assembly consisted of celebrating October birthdays and rewarding students for positive behavior via drawings. We also honored our October Class of the Month and October Student of the Month! Our mission for the month of October was to 'Do What is Right, Even When No One is Watching' with an emphasis on the word ‘Integrity’. Pictured below are our October birthdays, as well as the winners of Brownies and Ice Cream with the Principal (Ruby L., Isaiah W., Huntlee T., Madeline C., Kinsley B., Miana S., Norah S., and Zach W.), Class Extra Recess (Brooklynn M. and Kayeleigh S.), and Lunch with the Principal (Layla V.).
